Definition of Class

This position develops and executes media plans to generate support for promotion of athletic sports programs. The incumbent manages digital platforms, cultivates and manages media relationships, and develops original story ideas and feature articles.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Manages digital platforms and team information, including bios and statistics.
  • Develops original story ideas and feature articles for a wide range of platforms.
  • Designs and produces a wide range of publications.
  • Distributes and pitches story ideas and messages.
  • Produces multimedia content.
  • Maintains updated content on website and related channels.
  • Collaborates with other athletics units to populate team social media accounts.
  • Organizes photographic needs, and updates physical and digital archives.
  • Reports information to NCAA and SEC entities.
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with local, regional, and national media representatives.
  • Produces game notes, press releases, and other media materials.
  • Prepares network television crews for telecasts of team events.
  • Coordinates home athletics events and organizes and supervises statisticians and workers.
  • Coordinates game day interviews.
  • Participates in presentations, promotions, and other marketing elements.
  • Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Southeastern Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
 
 
AND
 
 
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
