Position Description

The University of Mississippi Department of Teacher Education is seeking to fill a tenure- track position in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.


This is a full-time position with a nine-month appointment beginning Fall 2022. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.


We are seeking a faculty member with expertise in evidence-based intervention practices for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, Down syndrome, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, developmental delay, and other disorders that occur during the developmental period (birth to age 18). Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Teaching courses that support the Special Education graduate and undergraduate programs, specifically in the Applied Behavior Analysis program.
●    Supervising graduate student field experiences;
●    Maintaining an active research agenda related to their subspecialty or expertise within behavior analysis;
●    Advising and mentoring graduate students and assisting with student support and recruitment activities;
●    Collaborating in department and university program development and committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience:

1.    Doctorate in special education or related field with a concentration in ABA;
2.    Candidates will meet the requirements of the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) to teach for a BCBA(R) Verified Course Sequence Program;
3.    Scholarly productivity in ABA, including behavioral research;
4.    Candidates will demonstrate evidence of engagement in teaching, research, and/or service that contributes to building and sustaining equitable, diverse, and inclusive communities.
5.    Experience working with EC-12 (teaching experience, professional development, administration, instructional coaching, etc.) in applied settings;
6.    At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum or other developmental disabilities.


Additional Qualifications for Associate Professor Rank:
1.    BCBA-D(R);
2.    Experience in supervision of BCBA candidates
3.    Experience working in clinic, home, and school settings
4.     Experience conducting and disseminating research as demonstrated through an established record of successful research.
