Job Description

The Roy Laboratory in the Department of Biomolecular Sciences at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy is currently seeking a highly motivated Associate R&D Chemist who has strong background in synthetic methods development, fluorine chemistry, and/or medicinal chemistry. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable up to two years contingent on continued funding and satisfactory performance.

Job Duties

Typical responsibilities will involve the design and implementation of research plans as well as follow existing experimental protocols and procedures. Separation and purification of organic compounds is required. Knowledge of analytical tools and techniques such as NMR, IR, mass spectrometry, and HPLC is also required for the assignments of chemical structures. Interpret results and use them to drive and design subsequent experiments. Maintain detailed notes and record all research work via an electronic notebook system. Participate in laboratory upkeep, maintenance of laboratory equipment, and safety activities. Contribute to the preparation and submission of reports and publications related to research. Report results at external scientific meetings.  Applicants should have experience in academic or industrial research laboratories.

Minimum Education/Experience

B.S. Degree in Chemistry or related degree.
