Position Description

The School of Applied Sciences, Department of Social Work at The University of Mississippi, is seeking applications for Chair of Social Work/Associate or Full Professor. This is a twelve-month, tenure-track position at the rank of associate or full professor as determined by research/scholarly publication records and academic achievements. The Social Work Department (http://sw.olemiss.edu/) is housed within the School of Applied Sciences (http://sas.olemiss.edu/) in Oxford, MS. The Department currently offers a B.S.W., M.S.W., and Ph.D. in Social Work.

 

 

Candidates must demonstrate evidence of administrative experience, an engaged/ongoing research agenda with a strong record of extramurally-funded research and/or community engagement grants, a record of peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals, research/scholarly achievement, and a record of excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences, the primary administrative responsibilities of the position will include overall direction of the department, fostering positive/collegial relationships, enhancing scholarly activities within the department, personnel administration, budgeting, planning, maintaining accreditation standards, assessment, development/fund raising, sponsored program activities, agency outreach, alumni relations and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a M.S.W. or equivalent degree and a Ph.D. in social work or a related field. Administrative experience and experience in accredited and undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs; research/scholarly achievement; an engaged/ongoing research agenda; experience with extramural-funded research grants; and excellent teaching is required.
