Position Description

 

The Department of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation Management (HESRM) at the University of Mississippi is seeking applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track position as Instructional Assistant Professor in Sport Analytics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in sport management, sport marketing, sport business, sport performance, kinesiology, or closely related field with an emphasis in statistics and/or data analysis, and a record of excellence in teaching.  Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in sport data science, big data analytics, and/or applied statistics and a history of developing and teaching online courses. The successful candidate may begin as early as August 2023.

 

The successful candidate will teach graduate-level online courses and/or advise capstone projects, maintain expertise in online pedagogy and assigned areas of teaching, monitor student progress, and assist with student recruitment, retention, and graduation. Other duties may include assisting with curriculum revision, growing partnerships in the sports industry, and serving on departmental committees. HESRM currently offers three undergraduate programs (Sport and Recreation Administration, Exercise Science, Public Health), four master’s degree programs (online Sport Analytics, Sport and Recreation Administration, Exercise Science, MPH), and a Ph.D. program in Health and Kinesiology with four emphasis areas (Sport and Recreation, Sports Analytics, Exercise Science, Public Health).
