Position Description

The Department of Writing & Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi seeks applicants for an Instructor. Responsibilities for this 9-month position include teaching two writing courses in an academic learning community each fall and spring as well as service responsibilities. This is a renewable position with benefits. Instructors are non-tenure track faculty with opportunities for promotion to Lecturer and Senior Lecturer as defined by the department's Instructor Promotion Policy. Experience teaching and/or working in an academic learning community is preferred.


Job Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate courses, including Writing 101 and 102, in an academic learning community
- Contributing to the development and administration of a first-year academic learning community
- Contributing to a professional development community within the Department of Writing and Rhetoric
- Service to the department, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have completed a masters degree in composition, rhetoric, or a related field by the hiring date.
