Definition of Class

This position manages and implements programs, events and functions in an effort to recruit prospective students for graduate programs. The incumbent designs and initiates communication strategies to recruit graduate students, manages electronic recruitment tracking and communication processes, selects and trains student assistants, and oversees staffing for recruiting events.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Manages and implements and implements programs, events and functions in an effort to recruit prospective students for graduate programs.
  • Plans, develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates recruitment activities for prospective students.
  • Coordinates the recruitment, selection and training of students to assist with program implementation.
  • Represents the University at various recruitment events.
  • Develops recruitment plans, sets new student enrollment targets and devise strategies to reach those targets.
  • Provides information to prospective students pertaining to admission requirements, financial aid, courses of study, etc.
  • Conducts presentations and on-campus interviews of prospective students, assists in arranging campus tours; attends training programs and staff development meetings.
  • Schedules staffing for campus recruiting events.
  • Travels to represent the graduate school at college fairs, visits and recruitment invitations.
  • Monitors the budgets for graduate student recruitment processes.
  • Manages an electronic recruitment tracking and communication system    
  • Creates and maintains prospect records; prepares reports and analyzes data to make recommendations for effective coordination of recruiting efforts.
  • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  1. Develops, coordinates and implements recruitment strategies and activities.
  2. Selects and trains student assistants.
  3. Counsels prospective students regarding the admissions processes, financial aid, courses of study, etc.
  4. Manages and implements electronic recruitment tracking and communication processes.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.




Two (2) years experience related to the above described duties.

Must have a valid driver’s license upon employment

Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
