Definition of Class
This position provides support to current and prospective students. Incumbent is responsible for undergraduate recruitment, scholarship administration, and development/management of programs to aid undergraduate students in a School or College. The incumbent makes decisions exercising discretion and independent judgment.
The University of Mississippi School of Business Administration is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to fill the role of Assistant Dean for Student Services. This position plays a pivotal role in providing comprehensive support to both current and prospective students within the School of Business. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of essential functions aimed at ensuring academic success and student satisfaction.

Examples of Work Performed
- Supervision: Directly supervise a team of academic advising and administrative staff.
- Study Abroad Course Approval / Oversight: Oversee the evaluation process for study abroad courses and appropriate credits.
- Diploma Application Process: Supervise the diploma application process for graduating students.
- Degree Certification: Serve as the officer responsible for certifying degrees.
- Catalog Requirements: Interpret and enforce undergraduate catalog requirements.
- Late Withdrawal Requests: Evaluate and coordinate late withdrawal requests.
- Financial Aid Attendance Verification: Oversee the verification process for financial aid attendance.
- Committee Participation: Serve on various committees including Curriculum and Scholarship committees.
- Recruitment: Oversee undergraduate recruitment efforts, supervise admissions counselor, collaborate with marketing on promotional materials, attend recruiting events.
- Orientation: Lead and organize all new student orientation meetings for the School of Business and ensure all students leave with information, contacts and a course schedule.
- Management of Undergraduate Academic Matters: Serve as an ex-officio member of the School of Business curriculum committee to drive student-centric changes. Manages process to ensure accurate changes are published in the catalog.
- Resolution of Academic Issues: Act as the primary point of contact for academic issues within the School of Business.
- Degree Certification Oversight: Oversee certification for all degree programs within the School of Business
- Program Development and Management: Develop and manage programs aimed at supporting both current and prospective students.
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
Essential Functions

- Develops, implements and manages various programs to provide support to current and prospective students.
- Coordinates recruitment activities to increase enrollment.
- Manages scholarship award activities and administration.
- Supervises and provides guidance to student organizations and programs.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
AND
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience related to the above described duties.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in decision-making.
