Job Description:

Our donor engagement interns connect with alumni and friends to share exciting news about University of Mississippi initiatives. The Donor Engagement Officer facilitates meaningful conversations between alumni, friends, and students while expanding the scope of texting, calling, and video interaction. Our students may invite donors to an event, thank donors for gifts, gather updates from donors, share what's new on campus, or offer donors the opportunity to give back to Ole Miss causes they are most passionate about.

Examples of Work Performed

•  Conduct Donor Outreach:

o    Make outbound calls to alumni, friends, parents, and other potential donors to solicit gifts.
o    Follow up on previous communications and respond to inquiries from donors.

 

•  Engage Donors in Conversations:

o    Communicate the University's needs, goals, and impact of gifts clearly and persuasively.
o    Share stories and examples of how private support positively affects the University community.

 

•  Record Call Details:

o    Accurately document call outcomes, donor responses, and relevant details in the donor management system.
o    Update donor information and notes based on interactions.

 

•  Handle Donor Information Confidentially:

o    Maintain confidentiality and security of donor information and personal data.
o    Ensure compliance with University policies and regulations regarding donor interactions.

 

•  Follow Scripts and Guidelines:

o    Adhere to established call scripts and guidelines to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
o    Adapt communication strategies based on donor responses and engagement levels.

 

•  Manage Call Lists and Schedules:

o    Prioritize and organize call lists according to deadlines and fundraising goals.
o    Schedule and manage call times effectively to maximize outreach efforts.

 

•  Track and Report Progress:

o    Monitor personal performance metrics, such as the number of calls completed and donations secured.
o    Report on progress and any significant donor interactions to the Development Team.

 

•  Follow-Up Communications with Donors:

o    Send thank-you notes or follow-up communications to donors who have made commitments or requested additional information.
o    Ensure timely follow-up on promises or pledges made during calls.
