The Center for Research Evaluation (CERE) at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to help us conduct creative, meaningful evaluations across the state and the nation. The position will be for one year, with a possibility of extension. 


As a Postdoctoral Research Associate you will work with a team to conduct a wide range of data analysis and reporting in support of health-related evaluation projects. You will continue to build your skills in evaluation and applied research, designing data collection protocols, developing analysis strategies and exploring creating communications tools that lay the groundwork for evaluation use.

This role offers a Postdoctoral Research Associate the opportunity to build experience and expertise in applied evaluation contexts, and to build expertise in the consulting space. There is also scope for our Postdoctoral Research Fellow to pursue research on evaluation projects, work on publications, and gain experience in grant writing, if desired.


Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Postdoc who is comfortable with quantitative and qualitative research/evaluation methodologies in the context of health research and evaluation and has experience with a wide range of data analysis skills.  We’re also looking for a creative, analytical thinker who can critically analyze an evaluation context, match methodological/analysis needs to the context, while also finding innovative ways to answer important questions in unique circumstances. Applicants who are highly skilled in a wide range of data analysis techniques are encouraged to apply. 


As an organization we want to make evaluation as easy as possible for our clients. So, we’re looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate who has the people skills to build strong and trusting relationships; who can talk about evaluation findings to nontechnical audiences; and can also create simple reports that translate complex data into meaningful insights for busy readers.  We especially seek candidates with diverse experiences and backgrounds—and who have experience in, and are interested in contributing to evaluations that explore issues of diversity and inclusion. 


Minimum Education/Experience


Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have recently completed a PhD or higher in public health, education, psychology, social sciences, or a related field along with prior experience in program evaluation and a range of evaluation methods. Candidates with an EdD are also encouraged to apply. 


Candidates should also have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis (including use of statistical packages such as SPSS, Stata and/or R). Familiarity with reporting platforms such as Tableau, Knack and other dashboard systems are also advantageous. 

Job responsibilities include: 
•    Provide consultation and support services to center faculty, staff, and clients on data collection, processing, analysis and analytics. 
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with our clients so they are engaged throughout the evaluation process. 
•    Design data collection tools for evaluation purposes. 
•    Collect and analyze research data related to evaluation. 
•    Prepare a range of communication tools to assist in disseminating findings and maximize evaluation use.
