Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to support the University’s transition to Workday. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment where initiative, follow-through, and independent problem-solving are essential.
This role requires someone who can critically evaluate current practices, ensure accuracy and consistency in financial data, and collaborate effectively across departments. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and accountability are key to success.
Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to “think outside the box”
- High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on tasks
- Strong Excel proficiency (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience with ERP/accounting system transitions (Workday, SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred
- Experience in a higher education or nonprofit environment preferred
Examples of Work Performed
- Support data cleanup and validation in preparation for ERP system migration
- Reconcile, review, and resolve account discrepancies
- Identify and suggest improvements to accounting processes and workflows
- Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth transition and integration into Workday
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency in financial data entry and reporting
- Adapt to shifting priorities and support a range of accounting-related tasks
- Ensure effective documentation of changes and updated processes
Essential Functions
Accountant I
1. Organizes, prepares and updates basic financial statements, journals, accounts, ledgers and reports for various financial needs within an automated financial system to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.
2. Analyzes financial reports, data and records, identifies discrepancies.
3. Maintains automated financial systems
4. Audits reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, reports, and prepares working papers.
5. Provides budget information and projections based on existing data and established policies and procedures
Accountant II
Minimum Education/Experience
Accountant (I, II, or Senior)
Education: Bachelor's Degree
