Definition of Class

This position provides leadership and expertise in designing and implementing assessment initiatives. The incumbent collects, verifies, and analyzes statistical data for assessment reporting, creates tools to track data and benchmark results, forecasts and develops methods for collection and evaluation, and presents results to diverse audiences.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Coordinates institutional effectiveness activities related to the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and general education including survey administration, data analysis, and use of assessment results.
  • Designs, conducts, and presents independent research projects and benchmarking studies relevant to general education curriculum and outcomes.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations, including assessment results and relevant data, to support the General Education.
  • Committee and QEP Advisory Board strategic and operational planning and decision making.
  • Assists faculty, programs, and departments with developing appropriate outcomes and selecting assessment techniques and tools for general education.
  • Consults with faculty, programs, and departments, regarding the uses of assessment results for improvement.
  • Advises faculty and staff on how assessment results can be used to strengthen learning, face-to-face and online instruction, and co-curricular general education activities.
  • Collects, verifies, analyzes, and presents statistical data in response to standard and ad hoc requests concerning the QEP and general education.
  • Generates, analyzes, and disseminates evaluation and research findings for assigned projects in curriculum, evaluation, learning outcomes assessment, the QEP, and general education.
  • Organizes meetings with appropriate faculty, staff, and administrators to solicit input on QEP and general education outcomes.
  • Co-facilitates faculty development workshops on effective assessment strategies.
  • Facilitates faculty development programs to advance the assessment of teaching and learning.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information on benchmarking, national trends and best practices for implementing and assessing general education outcomes.
  • Develops and delivers presentations to support strategic and operational planning and decision making.
  • Prepares, interprets, and communicates complex statistical information to diverse audiences verbally and graphically via multiple media platforms.
  • Prepares, interprets, and communicates assessment findings to advance teaching and learning practices.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding assessment of learning outcomes and initiatives.
  • Forecasts assessment and information needs and develops appropriate methods for collecting data for future evaluations.
  • Provides leadership in the area of institutional effectiveness by conducting workshops, making presentations, and serving as a consultant to departments in their assessment work.
  • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social science, research or a related field.
Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
Substitution Statement: Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
