Position Description

 

The Department of Public Policy Leadership at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a tenure track assistant professorship to begin in August 2024.  The position has a 3/2 teaching load, and the successful candidate will advance an active research agenda.  Teaching responsibilities include the department’s required courses in Public Policy Research Methods (PPL 210) and Policy Design and Analysis (PPL 310), Advanced Quantitative Methods (PPL 399), and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. A Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration, Political Science or a closely related field is required at the time of employment, as is a record of excellence in teaching and research. A strong background in quantitative methods and policy analysis is required. 
       

The Department provides a challenging undergraduate major that prepares high-performing students for positions of leadership in an increasingly complex world.  The interdisciplinary curriculum for the major incorporates economics, geography, philosophy, political science, public administration, and public policy.  The program emphasizes the global nature of responsible decision-making; the ethical imperatives of leadership; critical thinking and communication skills; and the conceptual and methodological skills necessary for careful policy analysis.
