Position Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, with the anticipated start date in the fall semester of 2025. We seek an outstanding candidate to join a vibrant department that offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs, with the B.S. program in Electrical Engineering accredited for over 50 years, and a newly accredited B.S. program in Computer Engineering. The position seeks applicants in the general area of computer engineering specializing in embedded systems, computer architecture, hardware security, and emerging computing (e.g. neuromorphic, quantum, compute-in-memory, etc.), with a focus on cutting-edge research and teaching in real-time systems, secure hardware design, and brain-inspired computing architectures. 

 

A successful candidate will be expected to develop a sponsored research program in computer engineering. A successful candidate is expected to teach courses such as microprocessors, embedded systems, hardware security, VLSI design, and neuromorphic computing. The candidates for a faculty position is also expected to teach general computer engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related field at the time of appointment, with a demonstrated potential for outstanding research and teaching. Applicants with interdisciplinary collaboration and industry partnership experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
