Position Description


The Department of Psychology seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in Developmental Psychology at the Assistant professor level to begin in August 2023. 


The area of specialization in Developmental Psychology is open and we welcome applications from individuals trained in any area of lifespan development. As part of the department’s commitment to promoting research and scholarship that highlights the role of diversity in understanding human behavior, we particularly welcome individuals with interests in aging and/or diversity science. We are also interested in applicants who may benefit from building a developmental research program within the rich social, ethnic, and age-related diversity of Oxford and surrounding areas. The new faculty member will have the opportunity to complement faculty expertise in development across clinical, cognitive and social psychology and diversity science.

About Our Program
The Psychology Department consists of 23 full-time faculty members and over 60 graduate students. Graduate programs include the APA-accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology and a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology. The Clinical Psychology program adheres to a scientist-practitioner model of training, with a particular focus on behavioral and cognitive- behavioral approaches. The Experimental Psychology training program focuses on cognitive, developmental, and social psychology. Faculty both within and across programs frequently collaborate on research. Our graduate psychology programs were joint recipients of the 2021 Donald R. Cole Excellence in Promoting Inclusiveness in Graduate Education.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have a record of research productivity and a plan for developing and maintaining a substantive research program that could attract external funding, as well as interest in recruiting and mentoring graduate students. 


Applicants must have completed a PhD in psychology or a related area by the time of appointment.
