Role Summary

Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors, as well as develops and executes comprehensive fundraising plans for various academic and research programs.

 

Associate Director of Development (Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College): Solicits leadership annual gifts of $25,001 and over through personal solicitations in support of development goals across academic units. Coordinates and participates in multiple funding channel activities. 
 

Examples of Work Performed

• Travels extensively to meet with donors and potential donors
• Hosts donors and potential donors for certain university events held on and off campus
• Follows a stewardship plan to ensure donors of UM are properly thanked for their support
• Maintain a portfolio and stay engaged with all individuals within portfolio

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Develops and executes fundraising plans for various academic and research programs.
2. Manages a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, ensuring regular and personalized contact with each donor.
3. Collaborates with senior leadership, faculty, and volunteers to identify and prioritize funding opportunities.
4. Creates and delivers presentations to individuals and groups to educate them about university programs and funding priorities.
5. Writes and submits proposals and reports to donors to provide updates on the impact of their gifts.
6. Works collaboratively with other university departments to ensure coordinated fundraising efforts.
7. Participates in face-to-face meetings with donors to solicit major gifts.
8. May provide guidance to other development staff.

Education: Bachelor's Degree
