Definition of Class

This position develops, manages, and executes strategic brand and marketing plans for institutional initiatives, activities, programs, and projects. The incumbent assists in the development and administration of departmental goals and objectives, compiles data and prepares reports for departmental directors, develops and manages programs and projects, and provides guidance, supervision, and direction for support staff and students.

 

This professional position serves as the acting editor-in chief who develops, manages, and executes the website strategy for olemiss.edu. The incumbent assists in the development and administration of departmental goals and objectives by planning and facilitating web content, maintaining quality controls and compiling and preparing reports for departmental directors. The incumbent provides guidance, supervision, and direction for support staff.

 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Ensures the website functions as an effective tool in University of Mississippi's overall marketing and communications strategy through publishing oversight, resource management, internal advocacy, brand and style stewardship, and analysis of data.
  • Oversees the voice, style, and tone of www.olemiss.edu to ensure alignment with brand platform.
  • Advocates for and ensures compliance with all web style and brand guidelines. Maintains documentation for web publishing and standards.
  • Regularly facilitates trainings and activities to support, educate and inform all relevant stakeholders on web strategy best practices and governance standards.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day curation, creation and optimization of all authoritative content on olemiss.edu.
  • Initiates regular editorial/design/marketing meetings to facilitate collaboration, content planning, and decision-making.
  • Gathers and synthesizes web research insight, feedback, analytics, and institutional priorities to make informed decisions about content, publishing process, standards, policies, and overall web strategy.
  • Establishes and maintains olemiss.edu content quality assurance program.
  • Recommends and implements changes to site-wide templates, taxonomy, content structure, style, information architecture, and design.
  • Consults and communicates with Web Governance Council and Information Technology about important web policy and governance issues. Provides regular updates on site performance and other metrics to ensure site health and compliance.
  • Manages Web Content Community by keeping group apprised of changes to web strategy, policies, standards, staffing, expectations, etc.
  • Works closely with Information Technology colleagues on CMS upgrades, enhancements, and data integrations.
  • Provides guidance and supervision of support staff.
  • Recommends budget or resource needs to sustain olemiss.edu.

Essential Functions

Minimum Education/Experience

Must be a current University of Mississippi employee. Current employees must apply through connectU. 

 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

 

AND

 

Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in a related field.
