The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, Department of BioMolecular Sciences is searching for an Associate R&D Chemist in the field of Chemical Ecology for a position currently open. This is a temporary position that may last up to 1 year.  The University of Mississippi is located in Oxford, MS, which is commonly rated among the top college towns in the country. The School of Pharmacy is ranked in the top ten nationally for research funding, and is home to the National Center for Natural Products Research and the National Institute for Undersea Science & Technology.


Examples of Work Performed
The successful candidate will join an active NSF-funded research program coupling chemical ecology and molecular biology. The goal of the project is to examine phenotypic differences in sponges throughout the Caribbean Basin to determine the effect of the environment on success of the taxa. The candidate will analyze sponge sample biochemical variability, and will assist in molecular identifications and chemical defenses.

Minimum Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field.
