Role Summary

Assists in the performance of administrative duties to support the development, coordination, or operation of a program, project, or University department. This position provides immediate health care and rehabilitative care for assigned athletes.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Provides immediate health care and rehabilitative care to the athletes.
  • Provides prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletic injuries.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Distributes funds for meals and athletic trips.
  • Assists in organizing and administrating the training facility.
  • Travels with and provides support to varsity sport teams.
  • Provides computer records of athletic injuries, illnesses and their treatments.
  • Assists with supervision of the graduate assistant and student assistant athletic trainers.
  • Maintains NATA certification, state license, and CPR certification.
  • Assists in preparing purchase requests, purchase orders, and receiving reports.
  • Assists in organization, administration, and preparation of athletic physicals.
  • Distributes funds for meals and athletic trips.
  • Assists with issues concerning insurance.
  • Maintains medical files on assigned athletes.
  • Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Southeastern Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Performs research on a specific topic, compiles data, and creates reports detailing findings
2. Proofreads and/or edits publications, marketing materials, reports, and other related documents
3. Performs career specific duties under the direct supervision of an assigned mentor

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: High School or Equivalent

Licensure: Must possess and maintain NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) Certification and CPR

Certification: Must be able to obtain Mississippi State Board of Health for Athletic Training License within first 30 days of employment.

Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Sports Medicine or related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
