Department Summary

The Office of Admissions employs more than 50 staff members with primary responsibilities for the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of undergraduate domestic students. The department is comprised of a diverse group of employees who strive to represent the university professionally and courteously to internal and external constituents. Role Summary

Designs, develops, and troubleshoots complex software and applications in support of establishing a sustainable institutional technological infrastructure.

 

The position will serve as a lead architect and solutions developer for the Slate CRM system for undergraduate admissions. The position will work within a team or Information Technology staff within the Office of Admissions to address system functionality and performance. The position will outreach to other departments and units across campus to expand usage and knowledge of the system among university staff.  

 

To perform this job successfully, the individual should:

  • Be proficient in the use of the Slate CRM, and have knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and database (Banner) software
  • Ability to train and provide technical support for CRM processes, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, respond to ad hoc requests, and develop clear, comprehensive written documentation for all procedures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assist in managing and maintaining the Technolutions Slate CRM system, ensuring its smooth operation and performance
  • Configure and customize the Slate environment to meet the university’s needs, including creation and management of user accounts, permissions, and roles
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Perform regular system audits and data integrity checks to ensure accurate and up-to-date information
  • Create and maintain complex queries, reports, and dashboards to support enrollment management and overall university efforts
  • Facilitate ongoing development and implementation of new Slate features and initiatives
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and resources for faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective use of Slate
  • Serve as liaison between Enrollment Management and Information Technology Services to ensure Slate CRM functionality
  • Assess applicant usage of Slate CRM and works with Admissions staff to drive engagement
  • Collaborate with departments to identify data needs and provide accurate and timely reports for decision making
  • Provide day-to-day support to end users, addressing technical issues, answering questions, and offering guidance on best practices
  • Support usage of Slate communication and event tools

 

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Tests and debugs programs, prepares systems test data.  
2. Maintains and troubleshoots applications, systems or websites.
3. Develops or modifies technical specifications for complex projects using disciplined software development. 
4. Implements data structure and systems performance strategies.
5. Prepares detailed system design specifications for system integration and upgrades. 
6. Reviews application design specifications and codes new applications accessible under Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and collaborating with User Experience (UX) Design professionals to ensure compliance.
7. Develops and maintains integrations; may include internal and external tools. 
8. Investigates application and website issues; performs root cause analysis, takes corrective action. 

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (6) Six Years Experience

Preferred Qualifications

The position requires six years of experience working in a college admissions, information systems or similar environment with extensive and progressive experience developing Slate processes and functionality. Three years of progressive Slate experience is preferred.

 

Experience providing technical support to a university admissions office with a solid understanding of the undergraduate admissions process is strongly preferred.
