Role Summary
Provides routine administrative support to a department or group of professionals in support of unit goals.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
1. Working with Communication Sciences and Disorders Staff and Faculty in the administration the clinical and educational program.
2. Maintaining clinical, student, and program records
3. Administering Speech and Hearing Center (SHC) policies and procedures
4. Providing administrative support to the SHC and the department to ensure efficient operations
5. Working with the clinical staff in the daily operations of the SHC
Examples of Work Performed
- Maintain clinical records and work with the electronic medical records system
- Manage the patient scheduling system
- Collect payments and process deposits for clinical services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Speech and Hearing Center (SHC) policies and procedures
- Monitor patient billing for accuracy
- Ensure patient accounts are managed in accordance with University of Mississippi (UM) and SHC policies
- Follow HIPAA rules and regulations
- Provide administrative support to the SHC Director for daily clinic operations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.
1. Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations.
2. Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures.
3. Tracks, stocks, orders, and inventories office supplies under direct supervision to ensure adequate materials are available for workplace operation.
4. Serves as an occasional point of contact for individuals and groups providing basic organizational information via phone, in person, and through other communication mediums, routing more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: High Schools Degree or GED
Experience: No experienced required
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of administrative support related experienced preferred.
