Role Summary

Coordinates programming and support for residents living in an assigned on-campus housing unit, and responds to emergency situations in support of creating an inclusive and save living community. This position coordinates and supervises the operation of a residence hall community or an apartment area. This is a live-on/in position, which supervises the work of resident assistants (RAs), graduate community directors, and desk assistants for a particular residential community or apartment area.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Supervises resident assistants, graduate community directors, and desk assistants for a particular residential community or apartment area
  • Conducts and performs evaluations and identifies developmental opportunities for student staff team members
  • Assists in planning conducting departmental training and development for graduate and student staff
  • Conducts formal and informal assessments to determine the needs of residents
  • Oversees the operational functions of a residential community front desk
  • Coordinates response and/or resolution to resident concerns, including roommate conflicts, wellness issues, room changes, and necessary student accomodations
  • Collaborates with faculty members to develop and implement various targeted academic initiatives with the residential communities
  • Completes regular building tours and conducts health and safety inspections
  • Ensures proper management of electronic keys for student rooms, commons areas, activity areas, and offices
  • Builds relationships with custodial and maintenance services to assure physical environment is maintained
  • Serves on or chairs departmental committee(s) or task force(s) Manages a community budget and adheres to proper purchasing approvals and procedures
  • Responds to crisis or concerns and manages incidents that occur in residential communities by serving on a 24-hour duty rotation

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Serves as a main point of contact for residents providing assessment, mediation and resolution of non-routine facility issues.
2. Plans, implements and evaluates student programs and initiatives for residence life.
3. Receives and responds to crisis situations according to established policies and procedures.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience
