Role Summary

Responsible for the coordination, supervision, evaluation, performance and day-to-day operations of the Spirit Team.

 

 

The University of Mississippi is conducting a search for Coordinator of Athletic Spirit Groups (Cheer). This position organizes, leads, and directs the activities of the cheer team. The incumbent supervises, trains, and coordinates student spirit groups, implements and executes game day activities, oversees recruiting efforts, and manages departmental expenditures.
 

Examples of Work Performed

•    Attend pod meetings for assigned sports
•    Main contact and liaison for all varsity spirit camps (i.e. main contact for housing, dining, facilities/athletics, varsity, on-site person during camps)
•    Coordinate and order meals for FB home games
•    Work all home FB games
•    Assigned VB games (rotate with all 3 full time employees)
•    Assigned travel for post season VB 
•    Assigned men's and women's BB games (rotate with all 3 full time employees)
•    Assigned travel for post season BB 
•    Assist Director of Spirit Groups with securing facilities for main and secondary practice space for spirit groups 
•    Assist Director with National logistics for spirit groups 
•    Attend scheduled appearances

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Provide technical training and expertise in skill development and protocols 
2. Lead strategy for all aspects of Spirit program
3. Maintain a risk-free environment in practices, game-day settings, and competition events.
4. Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience

 

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
