Position Description

The University Counseling Center is a department in the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Mississippi. The Director provides leadership and vision for the Counseling Center while managing its day-to-day operations and is responsible for the overall administration of counseling center services  and  programs.  

 

Duties include, but are not limited to: development, implementation, and evaluation of services and programs; coordination of clinical care including Employee Assistance Program; provision of direct counseling services to students; consultation with the University community; policy development and interpretation; coordination of recruitment, training, supervision, development and evaluation of  staff;  budgeting and financial management; service as a member of the Student Intervention Team;  and participation as needed on divisional and University committees designed to enhance the quality of University life. The Director is accountable for staff maintaining appropriate licensure and complying with the legal obligations and limitations of their work with University clients. The director also provides consultation with families, faculty, staff, administration, and other professionals as well as crisis intervention involving University students. The director integrates services of the Counseling  Center with other University offices to provide a full spectrum of student services.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or related academic field. Must be eligible for mental health licensure by the appropriate state board. Minimum of seven years of combined clinical and administrative experience in a multi-faceted college counseling center; or 10 years of experience as a licensed clinical counselor working in community-based organization or other healthcare setting is required. Experience with organizational development and outreach, crisis intervention, employee assistance programs and supervision of graduate students in training programs is required.
