Department Summary

ERP Technical Administration is a small team within the Technical Services division of the Office of Information Technology. Together we work with the systems and development teams to ensure optimum performance and integrity of the ERP system landscape.

Role Summary

This position plays a key role in the university's transition from SAP to a multi-system ERP environment featuring Ellucian/Banner (student information) and Workday (HR/Finance), with Fischer Identity Management (IDM) providing integration between systems. The incumbent will focus on security administration and identity management across these platforms, ensuring smooth operations during and after this significant transition. Candidates with Ellucian/Banner experience are strongly encouraged to apply, as this expertise is particularly valuable to the ERP technical administration team.

 

Identity and Access Management 

• Design, implement, and manage user profiles, authorizations, and system security within Ellucian/Banner, Workday, SAP, and Fischer IDM
• Develop and maintain role-based access controls that work effectively across integrated systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to identity management across multiple platforms
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with university policies

System Integration and Support

• Support the configuration and maintenance of Fischer IDM as the central integration point between systems
• Assist with data mapping and transformation processes between systems during migration
• Collaborate with technical teams to resolve cross-system integration challenges
• Support backup and recovery procedures across the ERP landscape

Technical Guidance and Collaboration

• Provide technical expertise to project teams throughout the migration process
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define security requirements and access control strategies
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences about security implementations
• Document security configurations and procedures for knowledge transfer

Professional Development

• Stay current with security best practices for higher education ERP systems
• Research and recommend solutions for identity and access management challenges
• Develop expertise across all platforms in our evolving ERP ecosystem

Examples of Work Performed

• Design and implement security frameworks and access control strategies within Ellucian/Banner, Workday, and legacy SAP systems
• Configure and maintain Fischer IDM integrations to ensure seamless identity and access management across ERP platforms
• Provide technical expertise for user access and authorization processes across the university's systems
• Troubleshoot security-related issues and assist developers with debugging across all ERP platforms
• Support system maintenance activities to ensure integrity and optimum performance
• Perform similar or related duties as assigned or required

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Oversees and plans the administration, maintenance, and infrastructure of the university’s SAP landscape.
2. Plans, installs and monitors all SAP support packages and upgrades.
3. Oversees SAP system security.
4. Provides guidance, support, and direction to the basis administration staff and serves as the lead SAP Basis Administrator.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience  (in ERP security administration, preferably including experience with Ellucian/Banner, Workday, or identity management systems.)

 

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience with Ellucian/Banner security configuration and administration.
•    Background in higher education ERP systems.
•    Experience with identity management solutions (Fischer IDM or similar).
•    Knowledge of role-based access control implementation across multiple systems.
