The facility manager will have a critical role in ensuring that the Jackson Avenue Center, the Depot, and the Paris Yates Chapel and the infrastructures operate efficiently, safely, and in support of the university’s goals. The work performed by the facility manager will blend operations management, maintenance oversight, safety compliance, and customer service. The facility manager will also be responsible for the oversight of all property, including but not limited to, vehicle fleet, furniture, and electronics. Must be able to review contracts and work closely with vendors for maintenance, repairs, and services. Development of long-term plans for facility upgrades, sustainability and emergency preparedness.

Role Summary

Manages the day-to-day operations of the Jackson Avenue Center, the University Depot, and the Paris Yates Chapel and also helps to establish and/or update facility policies and procedures.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Oversees and coordinates building and grounds maintenance for all spaces managed by the Division of Outreach and Continuing Education.
  • Ensures facilities and grounds are cleaned and maintained according to university guidelines
  • Manages and supervises work of the transportation staff, access the needs of the transportation office, and assess the needs of each vehicle in the Office of Professional Development, Events, and Services' inventory
  • Responds promptly to maintenance requests from faculty, staff, event clients, and building occupants
  • Monitors the HVAC systems to maintain comfortable temperature during the work day, classes, and events.
  • Communicates with Facilities Management on issues requiring attention.
  • Ensures all emergency exits, signage, and accessibility routes are in compliance with regulations
  • Ensures facility related projects are properly initiated and executed safely and timely.
  • Tracks expenses related to the all buildings needs and ensure operations remain within budget
  • Monitors and manages operating systems on a regular basis and performs daily walk through to identify any concerns.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required. 

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Organizes and schedules facilities maintenance and ensures completion.
2.Collaborates with executive to set organizational policies and procedures and ensures staff adherence.
3. Collaborates with executive to develop departmental strategic plans and budgets.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (6) Six Years Experience

Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and the candidate must have a minimum of 6 years experience in facility and/or property management or a related field. Having strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are required, along with having the ability to work a flexible schedule which could include early mornings, evenings, and weekends .
