Position Description

The Department of Marketing in the School of Business Administration at The University of Mississippi invites applications for the new position of Founders Chair in Marketing/Data Analytics. The anticipated starting date is August, 2020.  The position is a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with partial salary and research support from endowed funds.  Candidates with a background with a strong track record of experience in data analysis, particularly within the substantive area of professional sales, are encouraged to apply.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  The successful candidate is expected to teach primarily in the areas of data analytics with emphasis on digital sales tools. The normal teaching load for a research-active faculty member is 2/2 (6 credit hours per each semester, Fall and Spring) with the option to teach summer courses for additional pay. The candidate must actively conduct research and publish in top-tier marketing journals, be involved in the academic community, and engage with the external business community with particular focus on building relationships for future development of a sales center.

 

Marketing Department Faculty: Housed in the School of Business Administration, the faculty of marketing department publish in top journals including the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Business Research, Production and Operations Management, to name a few. Our faculty has research expertise in ethics, strategy, sales, product innovation, supply chain, public policy, multivariate data analysis and consumer behavior. We teach at the undergraduate, MBA, and PhD degree levels and have recently developed curriculum emphases in sales, digital marketing, and supply chain management. In the Fall of 2020, Dr. Barry J. Babin (PhD, LSU) is Chair of the Department.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, the applicant must possess an earned doctorate degree and experience at an institution of higher learning sufficient to merit appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level.  Candidates should possess a proven track record of original research and publication in high quality recognized journals, must provide evidence of a strong commitment to scholarship, effective teaching, and service. No candidate will be considered who does not meet the departmental AACSB standards for Scholarly Academics.
