Definition of Class

The University of Mississippi Sports Production Department is seeking one (1) graduate assistants for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. This unique position will allow for the selected candidate to gain hands-on experience in the intercollegiate sports industry while assisting Ole Miss Athletics in growing its brand through innovative storytelling ("The Season" on ESPNU), social media, and live-event productions.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the day-to-day functions of Ole Miss Sports Productions.
  • Assigned as a primary content producer for an individual sport(s).
  • Help to identify and conceptualize potential profile-worthy stories.
  • Aid in the setup of lighting and shooting of on-location interviews.
  • Support the Producers/Directors of Ole Miss Sports Productions as needed in all phases of production.
  • Manage social media platforms to promote upcoming events, projects, shoots, etc.
  • Work in the production of live events including video board replay, action shooting, and graphics.
  • Creation of video board slates, graphics, PA readers, and revenue content for in-venue board shows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • A demo reel showing shooting/storytelling ability is required.
  • Job contingent on admission into the Ole Miss Graduate School and completion of a successful background check.
  • Candidates must be enrolled full time (Must maintain 9 hours/semester and cannot exceed 9 hours/semester)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • High-energy work ethic
  • Ability and willingness to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holiday breaks
  • Non-linear editing experience required.
  • General knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects is recommended, but not required.

Salary/Wage Information

This is a 12 month position that can be renewed an additional year; $1,557 per month stipend position, Graduate School scholarship to cover 100% of regular Graduate School tuition and non-resident fee. Candidate will also receive an Athletics scholarship for their capitol improvement fee and an allotment for books.
