Position Description

The School of Journalism & New Media at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi, invites applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Social Media and Data Analytics who will begin in Fall 2021. We seek a colleague with experience in one or more of the following areas: social media, data analytics, data visualization, and/or big data and its application in professional contexts. Professional experience in digital journalism or integrated marketing communications is preferred, as well as teaching experience at the college level.

  • Teach social media/digital marketing courses that make up our School's social media specialization and develop or teach new courses as needed.
  • Be prepared to teach on-campus, off-campus, and online.
  • Teach both undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
  • Perform departmental, college, and university-wide service, including student advising.

Requirements and Preferences

Master's degree in Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or related field; Ph.D. preferred

Minimum of five years' professional experience in social media, journalism, marketing, communications, or related field
