Position Description

The Department of Biology at the University of Mississippi (UM) is seeking an Instructional Assistant Professor (IAP) or Instructor who will be responsible for teaching courses in microbiology for non-majors and one of the following courses: human anatomy and physiology or introductory biology for non-majors. The IAP/instructor will also participate in department recruitment events and provide departmental faculty service. This position is a nine-month academic year, non-tenure track appointment, with promotion possibilities. IAP/ Instructor contracts are subject to renewal on an annual basis.   
 

UM's Department of Biology is a broad-based department that consists of 23 tenure-track and 19 instructional faculty, who educate over 900 undergraduate biology majors and 55 graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.). The successful candidate will join an instructional team educating over 3500 non-majors students, with all laboratories and many lectures being taught in the Duff Center for Science and Technology Innovation(CSTI). The CSTI is a STEM education facility which opened in August 2024. Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have either a Ph.D. (preferred, for Instructional Assistant Professor) or an M.S. degree (for Instructor) in Biology or a related field. They must also have experience in teaching microbiology and human anatomy and physiology courses for non-majors and demonstrate a commitment to pedagogical innovation and inclusivity in the classroom.
