Position Description

 

The School of Applied Sciences at The University of Mississippi is seeking applications for an American Sign Language/Interpreting Instructor/Lecturer in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders. This is a nine-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of instructor or lecturer (as determined by teaching experience in higher education). Applicants must have an MA degree in American Sign Language Instruction or related field and higher education classroom instruction experience.  Professional interpreting experience and a state-level or national interpreter certification preferred but not required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate native to near native proficiency in American Sign Language and have experience developing and maintaining external affiliation agreements. 

 

The successful candidate will teach courses in the American Sign Language Interpreting Minor program on the Oxford, MS campus. The hire will be responsible for developing and maintaining affiliation agreements between the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and outside entities that are potential practicum sites.
