Department Summary

The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) at the University of Mississippi leads campus-wide efforts to advance internationalization through strategic recruitment, enrollment, support, and global program development. The International Admissions team plays a critical role within OGE, serving as the front line for welcoming talented international undergraduate and graduate students from around the world.

 

OGE is a collaborative and student-focused unit that includes International Enrollment Management, Immigration Services for Students and Scholars (ISSS), the Intensive English Program, the International Engagement and Success Office (IESO), the Study Abroad Office, and the US–Japan Partnership Program. Together, these offices form a comprehensive network that supports students throughout the entire international student lifecycle—from outreach and admission through post-graduation and alumni engagement.

 

Within this dynamic environment, the International Admissions Manager will use tools such as Slate CRM, SAP, and internal dashboards to support student tracking, application evaluation, enrollment reporting, and policy compliance.

Role Summary

Develops and implements recruitment plans based on enrollment goals, oversees and organizes events, recruits and trains staff and student/alumni volunteers, coordinates with UM professionals involved in evaluation and recruitment, maintains and develops partnerships with external community-based organizations, evaluates admissions applications and represents the institution to prospective students with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, geographically diverse student body.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of international student admissions for undergraduate applications, ensuring efficient, timely, and accurate processing in alignment with university and system-wide policies.
  • Receive, process, and evaluate for admission applications submitted into SAP and Slate.
  • Evaluate international transcripts for both undergraduate and graduate applications.
  • Develop, implement, and deliver training for admissions staff on international credential evaluation, admissions standards, and evolving best practices.
  • Interpret and apply policies and regulations related to international admissions as set by the University of Mississippi and the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL).
  • Audit admissions data and application materials for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and institutional requirements.
  • Monitor applicant pipelines and conversion rates, tracking prospective student progression from inquiry through enrollment and communicating with students and families regarding application requirements.
  • Stay informed on international education systems and admission standards, advising on credential recognition, equivalency decisions, and global education trends.

  • Receive, process, and evaluate for admission applications submitted into SAP and Slate.
  • Evaluate international transcripts and convert to the US system for review in the admissions process.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and international partners to facilitate transfer credit equivalencies and ensure smooth articulation of coursework from international institutions.
  • Monitor applicant pipelines and conversion rates, tracking prospective student progression from inquiry through enrollment and communicating with students and families regarding application requirements.
  • Ensure confidentiality and accuracy of international student records, maintaining compliance with FERPA, university policy, and international data standards.
  • Stay informed on international education systems and admission standards, advising on credential recognition, equivalency decisions, and global education trends.
  • Serve as a resource and liaison to faculty, staff, recruiters, and campus stakeholders on international admissions processes, timelines, and policies.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities; may specialize in a specific target population, such as veterans, transfer students, or non-traditional students.
2. Receives, evaluates and responds to freshman and transfer student applications according to established policies and procedures.
3. Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events.
4. Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution.
5. Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement.
6. Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals.
7. Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences.
8. Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission.

Education: Bachelor's Degree
