Position Description
The University of Mississippi seeks a dedicated and innovative educator to serve as a Law Instructor in our new Master of Science in Air and Space Law program. This pioneering program-the world's first fully asynchronous, online graduate degree in air and space law-offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of legal education in these dynamic fields. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Center for Air and Space Law, this role is primarily instructional focusing on teaching and curriculum delivery, with some administrative responsibilities to support the program's operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in launching and sustaining this groundbreaking initiative. This is a unique opportunity to teach in a cutting-edge academic program and establish a global standard in air and space law education.
Key Responsibilities
Law Instruction: Develop and teach eight two-credit graduate-level courses per academic year within the program, leveraging expertise in air and space law to deliver engaging and rigorous online instruction. Our Online degree programs follow our short-term semesters (1st Fall/2nd Fall; 1st Spring/2nd Spring). So, the program would follow those term dates each year.

The Master of Science in Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi is the world's first fully online, asynchronous graduate degree dedicated to this specialized field. Housed within the Center for Air and Space Law, the program offers a forward-thinking curriculum that equips graduates to address legal challenges in aviation, aerospace, and emerging space industries. As a trailblazing initiative, it aims to attract a global cohort of professionals seeking to advance their expertise in this dynamic and interdisciplinary domain.
Position is dependent upon grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications
- A Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school with a focus or significant experience in air law, space law, or related fields. An active license to practice law in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction.
- Demonstrated teaching experience, preferably in an online or hybrid academic environment.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
Preferred:
- Professional experience in aviation, aerospace, or space policy sectors.
- Knowledge of asynchronous online learning platforms and best practices in distance education.
- A record of scholarly or professional contributions to air and space law.
