Department Summary

This position is a part of the larger Coordinators of Professional Development team, which partners with the Mississippi Department of Education in providing high-quality professional learning opportunities for schools, districts and various other agencies in the state of Mississippi. The team is comprised of multifaceted individuals who create and deliver trainings in their specific area of expertise. Additionally, the team is comprised of Lead Implementation Specialists or Lead School Improvement Coaches, who work directly with the Office of School Improvement at the Mississippi Department of Education to provide support to schools and districts identified as needing improvement.

Role Summary

Manages the development and implementation of an academic program or set of funded activities. Programs are usually focused to a single purpose, may be scientific, research, educational, or service oriented, and may exist as a subset of an integrated funded program activity. Oversees fiscal and grant planning, program implementation and administration, marketing, and communication. This job profile does not supervise program staff.

 

In this position, individuals will be required to:

  • research and create slide decks on various topics relating to his/her area of expertise
  • present sessions in school districts, agencies and at conferences throughout the state
  • attend required meetings
  • complete and submit various reports
  • create and facilitate online courses
  • possess above average technology skills
  • provided embedded coaching and support in schools/districts
  • meet with school/district leaders to aid in the development of school improvement plans
  • oversee the facilitation of school improvement efforts

Examples of Work Performed

Some of the day-to-day duties include:

  • facilitating virtual session via Zoom or TEAMs

  • completing executive summary reports

  • completing travel reports

  • updating calendars

  • contacting and responding to emails from districts

  • providing resources to schools and/or districts

  • presenting in a face-to-face setting

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Develops and oversees program plans, budgets, and timelines, ensuring that programs are developed and implemented on time and within budget.
2. Collaborates with faculty and other stakeholders to develop and refine academic program content.
3. Manages program-related data and records, including student records, accreditation reports, and program evaluations, leveraging data to drive continuous improvement in program quality and effectiveness.
4. Leads program marketing and recruitment efforts, working with marketing and communications staff to develop and implement marketing campaigns and recruitment strategies.
5. Serves as a liaison between the program and other departments and stakeholders within the University to ensure effective coordination and alignment of program goals and objectives with broader institutional priorities and strategic plans.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience:  (6) Six Years Experience

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree from an accredited college or university AND at least (6) Six Years Experience

486 MS Administrator License or comparable

Principal of a successful school based on the Mississippi Accountability Model.
