Definition of Class

This position performs a variety of functions to increase the department’s visibility through the development of materials and distribution of information. The incumbent participates in the development of traditional and digital marketing assets; evaluates the effectiveness of university projects and campaigns; and stays abreast of emerging marketing topics and trends that pertain to university audiences.

 

The Office of Global Engagement seeks a marketing assistant for both internal and external communications about the global engagement efforts at the University of Mississippi.  The position will manage communications with prospective international students and counselors in support of the International Enrollment Management unit in OGE.  It also includes developing and distributing digital and print marketing assets, producing and analyzing reports to track marketing campaigns and other recruitment efforts, and communication with the UM Marketing and Communications and Admissions staff to stay abreast of strategic projects and ensure alignment with institutional initiatives.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Develops content for dissemination through a variety of channels and media, such as brochures, newsletters, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Collaborates with University Marketing & Communications staff to ensure that the university’s brand is applied consistently across UM-produced materials.
  • Coordinates social media strategies to generate attention from internal and external audiences.
  • Develops reports that communicate the effectiveness of traditional and digital marketing assets.
  • Assists in coordinating the daily management, production, and distribution of digital assets, including email blasts, social media, and website updates.
  • Builds relationships with internal/external constituents to encourage growth and effectiveness of programs and activities.
  • Develops SEO-friendly website content that supports strategic institutional messages.
  • Proofs and edits deliverables according to established guidelines.
  • Organizes and archives marketing material for future reference.
  • Ensures that all materials adhere to appropriate university guidelines and standards.
  • Provides guidance and supervision to student employees.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned, or required.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field.


AND


Experience:
One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.


Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
