The Office of Pre-College Programs in the Division of Outreach at the University of Mississippi seeks a Marketing Specialist.


Responsibilities for this newly established full-time salaried(exempt) position include: developing and executing marketing plans, strategies, and promotions to enhance the effectiveness of student recruitment to Pre-College Programs offerings; advising program directors about communication tools, messages and approaches to marketing programs, managing the production and distribution of marketing material and communications; and conducting market research and reporting on findings.

 

This position develops and executes marketing plans and promotions for initiatives, projects, and activities. The incumbent develops and implements marketing strategies; performs market research to enhance effectiveness of programs and activities; advises department about communication tools, messages, and approaches to marketing initiatives; and manages the production and distribution of marketing materials.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Creates marketing plans and promotions for initiatives, projects, and activities.
  • Executes goals and strategies identified in strategic planning as they pertain to recruitment, promotion, communication, and outreach.
  • Develops relationships with vendors as necessary to develop and implement the department’s marketing plan.
  • Advises department about communication tools, messages, and approaches to marketing initiatives.
  • Provides marketing advice and direction to assist in promoting programs and events.
  • Conducts market research and develops strategies to enhance effectiveness of programs and activities.
  • Serves as the liaison between the department and various organizations, groups, or vendors.
  • Builds relationships with clients to encourage growth and effectiveness of programs and activities.
  • Manages the production and distribution of marketing materials for the department.
  • Stays abreast of current projects and publications, as necessary, to produce appropriate marketing materials.
  • Proofs and edits deliverables according to established guidelines.
  • Generates brochures, posters, invitations, programs and other forms of advertising to promote the organization and its services.
  • Defines and develops measurement models to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Tracks metrics and prepares reports for leadership.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned, or required.
Essential Functions

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Business or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.

 

AND

 

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above described duties.

 

Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
