Definition of Class

 

The University of Mississippi's National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to assist NCPA scientists in active infrasound research programs. These programs include the study of infrasonic emissions from tornadoes and their use in tornado monitoring and infrasound propagation modeling development. 

 

Job Responsibilities (examples of work performed and essential functions):
The successful candidate will assist NCPA scientists with the study of infrasonic emissions from tornadoes and contribute to the ongoing work of research programs.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience):
This job requires a PhD in Physics, Geophysics, or related field. Experience with infrasound propagation modeling, data collection and analysis is not required, but is desirable. Familiarity with fluid mechanics and acoustic signal generation and propagation is desirable. Experience with programming in C/C++ and Python is preferred.
