Definition of Class

The National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA) at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, MS, conducts research related to groundwater recharge. Combining expertise in near-surface geophysical methods and numerical methods, hydraulic behaviors during groundwater recharge are monitored and estimated. 


We are currently seeking talented postdoctoral research associates with a Ph.D. in Engineering, Hydrogeology, or Physics. The successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing work on measurements needed to estimate groundwater recharge. Prior experience with electrical and seismic near-surface geophysical measurements, MODFLOW codes, computer programming, and GIS software is advantageous. 

 

The successful candidate will work on the development of novel techniques for estimating groundwater recharge.

 

Work responsibilities will include supporting the development of groundwater models through electrical and seismic geophysical measurements, performing quantitative hydrogeology using collected data, and developing conceptual models of groundwater flow systems.

Minimum Education/Experience

A Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Hydrogeology, Physics or a related field is required. No minimum experience is required.
