Definition of Class

Applications are invited for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position in the Center for Graphene Research and Innovation at the University of Mississippi. The center specializes in fundamental and applied research related to engineering materials. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary research team on providing tools for improving community resilience to floods due to levee breaches. The candidate needs to have good knowledge in civil engineering materials research (e.g. soil, cement, nano materials, graphene and graphene like materials). The candidate’s responsibilities include using numerical methods to simulate levee breaches, the use of machine learning algorithms, and the use of inundation models to simulate the propagation of floods caused by levee breaches. The candidate is also expected to perform geotechnical lab experiments, including flume tests.

Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. Candidates should have strong experimental experience and a track record of successful research.
