Department Summary

The College of Liberal Arts is proud to be the oldest and largest academic division on campus. We are a thriving group of individuals who play a pivotal role in the overall success of our university.  We have 18 academic departments, 3 ROTC departments, 21 centers/institutes/offices/programs, and 16 interdisciplinary programs.  We offer 46 separate degree programs in 36 major fields of study as well as 55 minor fields of study. The Dean's office is located in Ventress Hall, a beautiful, historic building on campus.

Role Summary

Provides routine administrative support to a department or group of professionals in support of unit goals.

 

This position assists in the performance of career specific duties to support the development, coordination, or operation of a program, project, or University department. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Assists with College of Liberal Arts' initiatives to expand access to STEM education for all students.
  • Assists with College of Liberal Arts' programs and initiatives centered on student belonging and mentorship for all CLA students.
  • Assists in the development, coordination and/or operation of assigned programs or projects.
  • Performs research on a specific topic, compiles data, and creates reports detailing findings.
  • Conducts surveys and gathers information through personal contact or written correspondence.
  • Provides recommendations to mentor based on review of applicable data.
  • Proofreads and/or edits publications, marketing materials, reports, and other related documents.
  • Attends departmental meetings and/or career specific conferences as appropriate.
  • Updates and maintains social media outlets.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.
  • Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with University, SEC Conference, and NCAA rules.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, conferences, travel, and work unit operations. 
2. Sends, receives, copies, and distributes communications to the appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures. 
3. Tracks, stocks, orders, and inventories office supplies under direct supervision to ensure adequate materials are available for workplace operation. 
4. Serves as an occasional point of contact for individuals and groups providing basic organizational information via phone, in person, and through other communication mediums, routing more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: High Schools Degree or GED

 

Experience: No experienced required

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university

 

Experience: Two years of administrative support related experienced preferred.
