Definition of Class

This position researches, plans, develops, and executes departmental programs and activities. The incumbent establishes and implements goals based on strategic objectives, develops and manages assigned budgets, creates strategies to evaluate performance and effectiveness, and provides guidance and direction for support staff.

 

This position provides strategic and operational leadership for a statewide program housed in the Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction. The successful candidate will have a Master's in Education and a minimum of two years experience in early childhood development with an emphasis on literacy and language development; early childhood research; effective and engaging professional development techniques; and current strategies for engaging communities and families in early childhood education settings. This position requires extensive travel to project partner locations (80% of time) with a shared office space on the Oxford campus.

  • Manages daily operations that support program goals and objectives.
  • Plans and develops programs from inception to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes.
  • Initiates and establishes goals for programs according to strategic objectives of the department.
  • Develops and manages assigned program budgets.
  • Creates strategies to evaluate and monitor performance and determine needs for improvements.
  • Assesses and manages program risks.
  • Determines ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of programs and procedures.
  • Analyzes data and reports to determine trends and inform management on progress and growth.
  • Ensures program operations and activities comply with university guidelines and internal policies.
  • Serves as liaison to internal and external constituents.
  • Facilitates communication and networking among staff and faculty to cultivate collaborative relationships.
  • Collects and analyzes data for use in making recommendations, assessing progress, reporting to internal or external constituents, and/or developing proposals.
  • Ensures programs support and advance the department’s mission.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

 

AND

 

Experience:

Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.
