Definition of Class

This position coordinates the daily operations of departmental projects. The incumbent oversees, directs, and/or coordinates administrative, financial, personnel, and general business operations for the department and provides technical assistance and support to identify the needs and available resources related to the projects.

 

The mission of the William Magee Institute for Student Wellbeing (WMI) is to develop innovative, collaborative, and transparent research to improve student wellbeing. The Thomas Hayes Mayo Lab is housed within the WMI and aims to use storytelling to share research and empower students around issues related to mental health, substance use, and general student wellbeing. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Produces the Mayo Lab podcast.

  • Coordinates Mayo Lab project activities.

  • Produces and hosts the Mayo Lab podcast.

  • Monitors the preparation and distribution of social media posts, website updates, and promotional materials for the Mayo Lab and the William Magee Institute.

  • Prioritizes and coordinates Mayo Lab resources for goal achievement and provides initial budgetary and expenditure assessments of subcontracts.

  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures; participates in office planning.

  • Ensures all materials adhere to appropriate university guidelines and standards by proofing and editing deliverables.

  • Maintains a current understanding and expertise related to emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in social media and communicates knowledge clearly to others.

  • Identifies, analyzes, and disseminates relevant materials.

  • May be required to travel to various off-campus locations including business and industry sites.

  • Provides technical writing and budget preparation support as needed for proposal and project development and reporting requirements.

  • Facilitates communication and networking among project participants and external entities.

  • Facilitates market research and makes recommendations to the department.

  • Develops, programs, modifies, and maintains the project's information systems utilizing technology.

  • Develops departmental advertising agreements and oversees submissions to contractual management.

  • Designs and oversees data retrieval procedures for data collection, performs analyses on data collected, and reports findings and makes recommendations.

  • Designs and implements marketing programs to support the Mayo Lab Podcast.

  • Attends related meetings and conferences.

  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  1. Manages and coordinates the daily activities for the Mayo Lab.
  2. Researches and identifies needs and resources for the Mayo Lab.
  3. Assists with designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating efforts for reports and/or proposals.
  4. Prepares reports and other documentation.
  5. Serves as point of contact for assigned projects.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

 

AND


Experience:
Two (2) years of experience related to the above described duties.

 

Licensure:

Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license. (Requirement for Academic Support Center, Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Graduate School)

 

Substitution Statement:

Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
