Department Summary

The Registrar's Office at The Law School is currently composed of two personnel. Due to the nature of the responsibilities, the person hired must be flexible and willing to help at any time.  This office has great responsibilities and implementation directly affects the faculty and students. The current personnel in this office are dedicated to providing the highest level of service.

Role Summary

Assists in the successful maintenance of student records through performing registration functions, supporting daily operations, and communicating with students.

 


The Records Coordinator will be part of a three person team in the Law Registrar's Office.  We serve a little over 500 enrolled Law students plus alumni by preserving the integrity, accuracy, and privacy of academic records and by distributing those records in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  

 

A successful candidate for this position will have strong communication and organizational skills and will be meticulous with details.  Familiarity with SAP and Excel formulas like VLOOKUP and COUNTIF is a plus. The position requires discretion on a daily basis. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Help with the administration and reconciliation of blind grading during midterm and final exams
  • Assist students with registration and degree progress questions
  • Enroll students in courses
  • Digitize academic records
  • Assist with the course scheduling and room reservations for academic events
  • Serve as a Notary of the Public for Law faculty, staff, and students
  • Maintain confidential information and uphold policies regarding sensitive information

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Performs routine registration functions such as: reviewing prerequisite requirements; verifying course, lab, and additional student fees; processing class additions, cancellations, and drops/withdrawals to ensure an effective and efficient process for students.
2. Maintains accurate student records and information within the student information system
3.Supports UM students and the Registrar as an informational resource
4. Maintains confidential information and upholds UM and Registrar policies regarding confidential and sensitive information, executing discretion on a daily basis

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: High School or Equivalent

Experience: (2) Two Years Experience
