Role Summary

This is a professional position where the incumbent is responsible for providing quality radiographs for diagnostic purposes. The incumbent also assists in all areas of laboratory procedures on a daily basis. In the absence of the medical technologist, the incumbent assumes all responsibilities of the medical technologist. Although the position is not designated as supervisory, incumbent coordinates some activities of the medical technologist helping in x-ray. All work is conducted in accordance with accepted and established procedures; however, the work contains many variables/decision making.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Takes and process x-rays

  • Collects, processes, and handles blood and/or other biological specimens according to established procedures and instructs patients in the proper collection of samples where applicable.

  • Performs quality control on test results, ensuring validity and accuracy.

  • Keeps records and reports on results according to established procedures.

  • Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.

  • Performs a variety of clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and urinalysis, as assigned; conducts quantitative and qualitative chemical analyses of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid; performs blood counts using microscope.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Provide services relating to medical laboratory tests. 
2. Perform X-ray procedures. 
3. Obtain and prepare specimens from patients.
4. Ensure sufficient inventory of materials, supplies and equipment for services.
5. Support all laboratory activities and operations.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Experience: (3) Three Years Experience
