Role Summary
Implements systems requirements and performs routine data analysis to ensure data management objectives within a work unit are met.
This position leverages business and technical expertise to collaborate with customers, vendors, and team members to implement and support research software applications enabling the research enterprise. The position also uses content management software to post web content and manage web and intranet communication strategies to raise brand awareness, inform internal and external audiences, and achieve business goals of the Office for Research and Economic Development.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Analyzes needs and possibilities for implementing new software applications and enhancements to existing systems.
2. Works with applications platform developer to apply solutions that support the vision mission for the Office for Research and Economic Development.
3. Coordinates new systems implementations and manages migration to the new systems.
4. Manages data associated with software applications.
5. Serves as a liaison with vendor support units, customers, IT staff, and ORED team members.
6. Works with ORED team to develop and implement training of application users.
7. Maintains web content for the Office for Research and Economic Development.
Examples of Work Performed
- Manages user accounts and authorizations by establishing processes for the provisioning and de-provisioning of roles.
- Defines requirements applications as well as new functionality requested from departments.
- Ensures adherence to data security policies.
- Works with vendors to identify, describe, and troubleshoot technical/software issues.
- Designs and builds research data reporting tools and dashboards.
- Oversees systems implementation projects, develops timelines, monitors systems testing, and assists with installation and support.
- Promotes faculty and staff development by educating users on new platforms. Works with education and training specialist to develop systems training and toolkits for users.
- Interviews clients to determine needs and requirements for the requested computer system.
- Markets departmental abilities and accomplishments to prospective governmental and commercial organizations through web content.
- Participates in classes and workshops, networks with peers, and accesses knowledge bases to keep up with current software application development techniques and methodologies.

Essential Functions

1. Collaborates as part of a team to ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of business systems.
2. Serves as a liaison between technical staff and user groups.
3. Consults with users to identify business needs and requirements.
4. Collaborates with various subject-matter experts to assess solution needs and identify desired outcomes.
5. Maps business processes using business process mapping methodologies.
6. Supports the designs, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systems.
7. Provides procedural and technical guidance to unit staff regarding technology usage and management.
8. Contributes to the modification and configuration of systems to meet business needs and stakeholder requirements.
9. Executes developed test plans to ensure desired results are achieved; supports testing such as user acceptance, performance, security, and usability.
10. Performs regular maintenance and testing along with software upgrades to verify effect on existing features and functions.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience: (3) Three Years Experience
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year institution in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
