Definition of Class

This position is responsible for the care of patients and volunteer subjects during clinical studies. The incumbent monitors health & safety parameters of clinical study participants, recruits and enrolls study participants and ensures study integrity, protocol compliance, documentation and reporting.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Monitors the health and safety parameters of patients and volunteer subjects during clinical studies.
  • Prepares, organizes and maintains research study and compliance documentation.
  • Develops Institutional Review Board study protocols and consent forms and maintains standard operating procedures.
  • Plans and organizes clinical study dates and associated deadlines.
  • Recruits and enrolls study participants and schedules activities within studies under approved research protocols.
  • Ensures regulation and protocol compliance in all aspects of study execution.
  • Evaluates study participant vital signs and symptoms and documents health status of participants.
  • Ensures compliance with study schedule and endpoint monitoring.
  • Determines when to contact the attending physician or principal investigator in regards to a study participant.
  • Prepares, organizes and maintains clinical study reports.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Essential Functions

  1. Monitors health and safety parameters of patients and volunteer subjects during clinical studies.
  2. Prepares, organizes and maintains clinical study documentation and reports.
  3. Ensures the execution of clinical studies in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing from a Nursing program in an accredited college or university.

 

AND

 

Experience:
Three (3) years of experience related to the above describe duties.

 

AND


Licensure:
Must be licensed by the Mississippi Board of Nursing as a registered nurse.
    
Substitution Statement:
Related experience may be substituted for education, on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
