Definition of Class

Applications are invited for a Computational Research Scientist position in the Center for Graphene Research and Innovation (CGRI) at the University of Mississippi. The center specializes in fundamental and applied research related to graphene and other 2D materials. The successful candidate will work with an interdisciplinary research team on modeling and simulation of infrastructure materials (cement and asphalt) containing graphene and graphene-like nanofillers, multifunctional polymer composites, membranes, structural foams, self-sensing materials, quantum dots and other material systems.  The successful candidate is expected to have relevant background in either Density Functional Theory (DFT), Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulation using traditional and machine learning force fields, or mesoscale techniques such as coarse graining, dissipative particle dynamics, and phase field modeling. Other responsibilities include 1) mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students, 2) preparing research results and writing grant reports, as well as manuscripts for publication, and 3) assisting with grant writing. This position is available for one year with the possibility of renewal (contingent upon availability of funding).
