Definition of Class

This position performs a variety of technical duties involved in conducting standardized tests in support of research oriented activities. The incumbent provides assistance that may include conducting standardized tests, setting up instruments, material, and apparatus, operating standard equipment required for specific tasks, maintaining sufficient inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment, cleaning and maintaining standard laboratory equipment, etc.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Perform a variety of technical duties (eg. pipeting, microscopic observations and manipulations) associated with conducting developmental biology experiments.
  • Use computer and software programs to analyze data and create figures for publication.
  • Maintain organized laboratory notebook.
  • Assist in training new personnel.
  • Maintain, organize, clean laboratory supplies, stocks and equipment.
  • Zebrafish husbandry including feeding, genotyping and breeding
Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

  1. Performs a variety of technical duties involved in conducting standardized tests and making determinations in support of research oriented activities.
  2. Cleans and operates standard laboratory equipment.  


Minimum Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).




One (1) year of experience related to the above described duties.
