Department Summary

The Data Warehouse and Analytics Team in Academic Computing is a new organization that supports project Encompass and its new warehouse tool, Ellucian Insights.

Role Summary

The Software Developer III/Data Warehouse Support Specialist is responsible for the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of integrations between Ellucian Insights, third-party systems, and other external ingestions of data elements. This includes managing system ingestions and configurations within the Ellucian Ethos architecture for Insights, providing support for inbound/outbound ingestion and integration issues, and making changes to existing ingestions and scheduled populations as required.  Additionally, as updates to the SaaS platform are pushed, responsibilities will include ensuring the integrity of data within the warehouse environments (ex. re-loads and/or refreshes of all data tables).  Assist the Data Warehouse Manager with other administrative functions when needed. 

Examples of Work Performed

• Perform the Ellucian recommended updates on the warehouse when SaaS updates occur. 
• Monitor the creation and usage of data products within the Insights environment.
• Integrate data from multiple sources, including ERP, HR, and various external SIS support systems, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and integrity. 
• Identify and resolve issues in Ellucian Experience tools, ensuring seamless functionality.
• Provide support for inbound and outbound integration issues, changes to existing integrations, and develop new integrations.

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Analyzes and determines modifications and changes for complex customer requirements and needs.
2. Manages the database creation, integration, and management.
3. Creates back-end frameworks to build server-side software.
4. Implements data protection and security protocols. 
5. Provides guidance to less experienced staff.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field OR Masters degree in related field.

Experience: (6) Six Years Experience

 

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.

 Technical Expertise
 • Proficiency in database management systems (DBMS) and data warehousing technologies.
 • Experience with ERP and SIS (e.g., Workday, Banner, SAP)
