The Ole Miss Athletics Communications Office is committed to providing the best and most robust media coverage of Rebel sports.
GENERAL ASSIGNMENT
• Work closely with full-time staff, graduate assistants, to develop and execute initiatives to further heighten the coverage and excitement centering around Ole Miss Athletics.
• Executing game day set-up and game day responsibilities at the direction of their communications department supervisor, with a potential of weekly office hours.
• Work special events including but not limited to: Square Jam, Grove Bowl, etc.
• Assist with gameday operations, writing press releases and other feature stories for olemisssports.com.
• Help with execution of social media plans and creation of digital content.
• Assist full-time staff with other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
• Interest in pursuing a career in sports administration, advertising, public relations, event management, operations, or marketing
• Full-time student at the University of Mississippi
• Strong organizational, and written/verbal communication skills
• Awareness of the urgency of certain projects and deadlines
• Comfortable and able to communicate effectively with the public and follow through with minimal direction
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Basic familiarity of social media (Twitter, Facebook, & Instagram)
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Studio preferred
• Marketing, Business, IMC, Journalism, Sports & Recreation, or related major preferred
PERKS
• Direct experience working in collegiate athletics communications, particularly the SEC
• Class credit available on a case by case basis
• Semester-long internship for fall of 2023 with the possibility of renewal.
